Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army Revolver, with original matching box, #356342,.44 Spec. CF cal., 7.5'' blued round barrel, with tall integral blade front sight marked on top ''Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co. Hartford, CT. U.S.A.'' in one line and ''Colt Single Action Army .44 Special'' on left side; blued round-fluted 6-shot cylinder; case hardened solid frame with long top groove rear sight marked with the two-line 1871-72-75 patent dates and ''Rampant Colt'' logo on left side; hinged loading gate is correctly batch numbered ''17''; fire blued hammer (with polished sides) and trigger and blued gripstraps with finely checkered black hard rubber grips having the ''Rampant Colt'' logo within an oval relief panel. Mfg'd 1938. Condition is as new and appearing unfired, retaining approx. 98% of its original deep Colt blue and beautifully mottled case hardened finishes and just the faintest turn ring on cylinder; deep blue in barrel and cylinder bores, and perfect grips. Edges and markings are sharp; screw head slots are unblemished. Action is crisp and smooth; bore is brilliant with deep rifling. The matching original brown paper-covered pasteboard Colt box is fine for its age, having tight joints (except front of lid; missing small right lid panel) and clear inner labels; the outside labels match the gun's specifications, the lower label reading ''71/2/Colt's Army S.A. Revolver/Rubber Blue/.44'' and the top label ''Special''. One of the very last First Generation Single Actions made, this gem with its long barrel, .44 Special caliber and striking condition would be near impossible to duplicate or to improve on. Est.: $8,000-$12,000. (C&R/PPT)
