Finlay, comprising a bronze 1930 Amateur Athletic Association 1930 Special Jubilee Edition Championship medal, held at Stamford Bridge, the reverse engraved STANDARD 120 YARDS HURDLES 16-1/5TH D.O. FINLAY, in original box, diameter: 38 mm; a silvered 1936 Inter-Services Athletic Championships Winners medal, reverse engraved 1936 120 YDS HURDLES WINNER, in original box, diameter: 38 mm; a silvered 1937 Royal Air Force Athletic & Cross Country Association 2nd place medal, reverse engraved 1937 PUTTING THE SHOT CHAMPIONSHIP SECOND, in original box, diameter: 44 mm; a bonze 1938 Royal Air Force Athletic & Cross Country Association Winners medal, reverse engraved TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS DIVISION III 1938 120 YARDS HURDLES TEAM WINNERS, in original box, diameter: 50 mm; a 1938 Great Britain v Norway London 110 metres hurdles winners shield trophy, the silver engraved mounts with enamelled shield applied to an oak shield trophy, bears silver hallmarks, height: 16.8 cm and a white metal and enamelled French medal for Athletics event in France v England, inscribed MATCH D'ATHLETISME FRANCE ANGLETERRE, (6) Don O. Finlay was a leading British Athlete in the 1920/30's. He took part in three Olympic Games, winning bronze in the 1932 Los Angles games and silver in Berlin in 1936. In the 1948 London games he hit the hurdle in the heat and fell. However such was his standing that he took the oath on behalf of the athletes at London 1948 games. He won gold in the 1934 British Commonwealth Games and in the 1938 European Games. He rarely lost and was also accomplished at other disciplines. He had a remarkable career and won the D.F.C. - A.F.C. award. He was credited with kills in combat and was paralyzed in a car accident in 1966 and died in 1970.
