PRE-WAR SCOPED REMINGTON MODEL 14 SLIDE ACTION

Lot # 382 (Sale Order: 401 of 831)

Serial #98152. Remington re-introduced the slide action center fire rifle in 1912 filling the void left by the old Colt Lightning of the previous century. They offered this new rifle with it's distinctive spiral magazine in four calibers, the .35 Remington being the most powerful and one of the best deep woods calibers ever invented. The Model 14 lasted until 1936 and many of those rifles are still out in the woods filling tags. This rifle features a 22" round barrel, 2/3 magazine, dove-tail and ramp front sight, replaced Marbles folding rear sight, blue finish with grooved walnut fore-end and plain pistol grips walnut stock with blued steel rifle butt-plate. This rifle sports a vintage Pachmayr tip off scope mount and a period Weaver KV scope. The rifle retains 85% of a vintage re-appled blue finish leaving crisp legends but a slight purple hue on the frame. Wood is excellent as refinished, slightly shy with one small hairline on right wrist and with the usual light impressions. Bore is fine. *(C&R)
