Andy Warhol Mick Jagger FS.II.142 Hand Signed Gallery

Lot # 183 (Sale Order: 335 of 585)

Artist: Andy Warhol Title: Mick Jagger FS II.142 Announcement Signed Invitation Medium: Lithograph Hand Signed by Warhol Size: 6" x 4" Framed: 17.5" x 15" Signed: Hand Signed by Warhol Year: 1975 Edition: Limited Release By Castelli Graphics New York For Exhibition Condition: Perfect Condition always protected from UV rays and acid free matting Authentication: Gallery Certificate Included Image FS II.138 Andy Warhol’s portrait of Mick Jagger is as iconic as the two artists were themselves. Since Ackerman’s Fine Art is now offering one of these portraits, we thought you might enjoy learning more about the relationship Andy and Mick had with each other. HOW WARHOL MET JAGGER Andy Warhol and Mick Jagger met at a party in 1964, when the Rolling Stones were on their first US tour. At this time, both were rising to fame and establishing their image. The Rolling Stones were viewed as the dirty alternative to the clean-cut Beatles and art collectors may have viewed Andy Warhol in a similar way compared to other artists of the time, such as Wayne Thiebaud, Japer Johns and Tom Wesselmann. The artists’ first collaboration was for the Sticky Fingers album cover, in the 1971. Mick Jagger described Warhol as nothing more than a voyeur in a tour documentary in 1972, but admiration grew over the years. Both Warhol and Jagger realized that the other could help build their image. Their relationship and collaborations over the years was partly a business arrangement with lavish rock-star parties.

Pino "Restful" Hand Signed/# Giclee on Canvas

Lot # 191 (Sale Order: 339 of 585)

Artist: Pino Item- Restful Type- Giclee on Canvas Signed/Numbered Size- H/12 x W/20 Condition- Excellent Pino "Restful" Hand Signed/# Embellished Giclee on Canvas w/coa size 12x20 Pino Daeni (November 8, 1939– May 25, 2010) was an Italian-American book illustrator and artist. He is known for his style of feminine, romantic women and strong men painted with loose but accurate brushwork. Considered one of the highest paid book illustrators of his time, he created over 3,000 book covers, movie posters and magazine illustrations. From 1960 to 1979, his work garnered several prizes and awards. During this period, he was commissioned by two of Italy's largest publishers, Mandadori and Rizzoli, for numerous book illustrations. After a visit to Manhattan in 1971, Pino's experiences of the art scene at that period led him to feel restricted in Milan, and in 1978, he moved to New York, where he believed the artistic freedom would allow him greater opportunities. In 2001, Pino's son, Massimo, began representing his artist-father, despite Pino's initial reluctance. Massimo, more known as Max, successfully grew his efforts into a profitable marketing company, helping his father expand beyond his normal gallery representation to include magazines and books. His work continues to appear in art galleries all over the world, and his Giclee prints sell into the thousands of dollars. On May 25, 2010, Pino died at the age of 70 after many famous pieces and is know as one of the most popular artists of all time.
