Lot # 39 (Sale Order: 102 of 585)

• Title: H. C. Andersen 1987<>• Artist: Andy Warhol <>• Materials: Screenprint on paper<>• Date created: 1987<>• Measurements: 28" x 22"<>• Hans Christian Andersen was a nineteenth-century Danish author and poet who is famous for his fairytales. Warhol created several portfolios containing four screenprints based on the author. Each series comprises a portrait of Andersen based on an official photograph. The further three prints in the portfolio, of which this poster depicts an example, derive from Andersen’s own cut-out shapes. As a hobby Andersen would always carry a pair of scissors which he would use to make paper silhouettes. Warhol has adapted these symmetrical and rather abstract images, into colourful screenprints.<>• This series, completed in 1987, was printed by Rupert Jasen Smith in New York and published by Art Expo Danmark, Odense, Denmark....more

Andy Warhol Mick Jagger, Invitation Hand Signed Gallery

Lot # 56 (Sale Order: 122 of 585)

Artist: Andy Warhol Title: Mick Jagger, Announcement Signed Invitation Medium: Lithograph Hand Signed by Warhol Size: 6" x 4" Framed: 17.5" x 15" Signed: Hand Signed by Warhol Year: 1975 Edition: Limited Release By Castelli Graphics New York For Exhibition Condition: Perfect Condition always protected from UV rays and acid free matting , Andy WarholÆs portrait of Mick Jagger is as iconic as the two artists were themselves. Since AckermanÆs Fine Art is now offering one of these portraits, we thought you might enjoy learning more about the relationship Andy and Mick had with each other. HOW WARHOL MET JAGGER Andy Warhol and Mick Jagger met at a party in 1964, when the Rolling Stones were on their first US tour. At this time, both were rising to fame and establishing their image. The Rolling Stones were viewed as the dirty alternative to the clean-cut Beatles and art collectors may have viewed Andy Warhol in a similar way compared to other artists of the time, such as Wayne Thiebaud, Japer Johns and Tom Wesselmann. The artistsÆ first collaboration was for the Sticky Fingers album cover, in the 1971. Mick Jagger described Warhol as nothing more than a voyeur in a tour documentary in 1972, but admiration grew over the years. Both Warhol and Jagger realized that the other could help build their image. Their relationship and collaborations over the years was partly a business arrangement with lavish rock-star parties.<>CONDITION<>Excellent
