French Model 1882 Officer's Sword

Lot # 627 (Sale Order: 27 of 571)      

French Model 1882 Officer's Sword, with knot. The 33.5'' blade is oval in shape with a single narrow fuller. There are markings at the ricasso area of ''BALP St. Etienne'...more', and on the reverse ''Manf. Armees de Chatillerault Off. d Inf. Mde 1882 E''. Condition is good, with age graying and darkening, but no pitting, and nickel-plated four-bar guard and hilt fittings. Horn grip retains all its triple wire wrapping showing a small crack at top. Leather sword knot shows age and cracking. Steel scabbard has remnants of nickel plating, but most all has disappeared. The surface has a dark rust patina overall. Overall is 40.5''. 1827 Pattern British Naval Officer's Sword

Lot # 628 (Sale Order: 28 of 571)      

1827 Pattern British Naval Officer's Lion Head Sword, with 30'' long quill backed blade of the early 1827 pattern type swords. Lightly etched engraved with naval fouled a...morenchor and floral motifs, showing no visible maker's mark. The fire gilted gold lions head hilt is wonderfully carved and chased. The large solid basket guard has the queen's crown over a fouled anchor, with folding rear langet. Condition is good overall. Hilt fittings retain most all of their original gold finish with some minor age spotting. Rayskin covered grip with triple wire wrapping intact. Original red cloth blade washer is present. No scabbard. Blade shows light rust patina overall, but should clean well. Overall length is 35.5''. Est.: $300-$500.

Model 1889 Prussian Engraved Ulan Regiment Dress Sword, with engraved blade and regimental stamped markings. The 32.75'' blade is nickel plated with military motifs, cava...morelry men on horseback, and regimental name of ''Ulan Regt. Grofh Friedrich v.Baden(Rhein.) No.7''. There is a maker's mark on the top spine to Weyersberg & Co. Solingen. The nickel-plated guard features folding front and rear guards with a Prussian eagle on the front guard. The quillion is stamped with regimental markings ''U.R.7. 2.36.''. Black composite grip shows some old repairs at the bottom. Front guard was soldered to be fixed at some time in the past, but moveable now. Blade is bright with just minor peppering at the ricasso. The black-painted scabbard is in good shape with the usual scrapes and scuffs from use. Overall length is 41''. Est.: $350-$650.

Imperial German Engraved Enlisted Sword, with nickel-plated dove's head pommel and ''P'' guard. Sharkskin covered grip with intact triple twisted wire wrapping. 32'' nick...moreel-plated blade with etched floral and military motifs. Blued panels on both sides featuring horse drawn artillery pieces and soldiers and regimental name of ''Mindensrh Feld Artill. Regt. No.58''. Blued panels are lightly rusted overall, but remnants of the blued finish remain in the recesses. Some scattered light rust pitting on the lower half of the blade. Original red felt blade washer present. Scabbard is painted black with numerous chips and flaking to the finish. No dents in the scabbard. Plated finish on the handle fittings shows some light rust and losses to the finish. Overall length is 37.5''. Est.: $300-$500.

Wood is very good with overall scratches and handling marks; cartouches are sharp and readable. Bore is dark with no visible pitting; action is smooth but knob will not turn to safety position. Soviet Model 1895 Nagant ''Gas Seal'' Double Action Revolver, mfg'd at Tula Arsenal, #28221, 7.62x38mmR cal., 4.5'' barrel, blued finish, checkered wood grips, blade fron...moret sight, fixed ''U''-notched rear sight, with lanyard ring. Marked on left side of frame with ''arrow and star'' Tula Arsenal maker's mark and dated ''1933'', with arsenal refurbishment stamp. Right side of barrel is import marked. Cylinder is numbered to the gun. Metal rates as near excellent with approx 97% of the dark blue arsenal finish remaining on metal surfaces, with some small scratches on the right edge of the frame below the hammer, otherwise showing very light wear. Grips rate fine and show only light wear and a few spots of oil darkening. Tula Arsenal marks on the left side of the frame are clear; some of the various Soviet proofmarks on the right side became a little weak after the arsenal refurb. Condition overall is very good as refinished with over 95% of the reblued finish remaining on the metal. There is a crack in the handguard forward of the rear sight and an arsenal repair on left side of receiver, otherwise wood is very good with an added satin finish that is fading and darkening. Includes cleaning rod that has a non-standard tip. Arsenal repair on right side of buttstock. All numbers are mismatched. Bolt handle has been heated and partially turned down and back. Condition overall is very good as refinished, with approx. 70% of the reblued finish remaining on the metal, the thinned areas turned a bronze color at the muzzle. Wood is very good with extensive thinning and scratches to the shellac finish on the forend and overall handling marks. Marked on left side of action body with the ''Block S'' of the Savage Stevens Co./1942'', and on left side of receiver ''No. 4. Mk 1*'' and ''U.S.PROPERTY'' indicating mfg. in the U.S. for the British under the ''Lend Lease'' act of WWII. South African ''Broad Arrow inside U'' property mark stamped on chamber with #2 bolt head. Matching numbers on rear of bolt handle, no numbers on forend. Magazine is for a British No.4 Mk 2 and is engraved with a mismatched serial number. Condition overall is very good with about 85% finish remaining on the metal, with patina on the magazine and front sight and cleaning/polishing on the bolt handle. Wood has been sanded smooth and stained showing a few scratches. Two-groove bore has a couple of stains, otherwise bright with very good rifling. Action is smooth. Import stamped on left side of receiver. Includes a cotton sling ink stamped ''S 1943 (Canadian(broad arrow)C)'' in excellent condition. Est.: $300-$450. (C&R)

Attached ''FIREARMS REGISTRATION 11ND-MCASET-5510.6 (11-60)'' shows rifle with serial #HE4477, and under ''WHERE PURCHASED'' says ''WAR SUV.''''WHEN PURCHASED'' has a date of ''1951''. Condition overall is very good with less than 70% finish remaining on the metal, with thinning across the magazine and browning on the bolt. There are rust spots across the bayonet collar and blade. Wood has been sanded and refinished with a coat of stain and shows a few light handling marks. Action is smooth, bore is very good with slight darkening in the grooves and very good rifling. Argentine M1891 Mauser Bolt Action Carbine, #C2855, 7.65x53mm cal., 17.6'' barrel, blued finish, hardwood stock, inverted ''V'' front sight with protecting ears and adjus...moretable folding leaf rear sight. Marked on receiver ring with intact Argentine crest. ''AG'' inside shield stamped on barrel. Left side receiver rail marked ''MAUSER MODELO ARGENTINO 1891 DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN.BERLIN''. Faint Argentine crest on right side of buttstock. Mismatched numbers. Condition overall is very good with almost all of the dark refinish remaining on the metal with light patina on the buttplate. Stock has been sanded and oiled over old handling marks. Handguard retains its original finish and shows scratches and handling marks. Action is smooth, bore is very good with very good rifling. No visible import stamps. Est.: $300-$500. (C&R)
