Marked on right side of action body ''(crown)G.R. B. 1944 SHT LE III* FTR'' indicating this is a ''Dispersal Rifle'' made by B.S.A. Guns. Matching numbers (serial number on bolt handle has been ground off and re-numbered to match). Stock disc has been removed and a New Zealand coin has been attached in its place. The ears on the front handguard have been removed. Condition overall is very good with almost all of the dark refinish remaining on the metal. Wood has been sanded and a coat of varnish applied. Action is smooth, bright bore is excellent. Import stamped on right side of receiver. Includes a blue British cotton sling in very good condition. One of the 30,000 Type 99 Long Arisaka rifles produced at the Toyo Kogyo Arsenal before production was changed to the more common Type 99 rifle with a 25.5" barrel. Marked on left side of receiver with a 35th Series mark. Mismatched number on bolt and extractor. Missing cleaning rod. Crest has been ground off. Condition overall is very good+ with almost all of the dark bluing remaining on the metal. Wood is very good with overall handling marks. Action is smooth, bore is very good with good rifling. Japanese Type 38 Arisaka Bolt Action Rifle, #00028587, 6.5x50mm cal., 31.25'' barrel, blued finish, hardwood stock, inverted ''V'' front sight and adjustable folding leaf...more rear sight. Marked on top of receiver with obliterated Imperial chrysanthemum over a partially visible character for ''school'' and ''38 Type''. Left side of receiver has ''00'' stamped next to serial number, indicating rifle was removed from service, along with the mark for the Kokura Arsenal. Mismatched number on bolt handle. Rifle is missing cleaning rod, front triggerguard screw, magazine floorplate, spring and follower, and rear sling bracket and swivel. Front of extractor has been filed. Condition overall is good with approx. 40% finish remaining on the rifle, turning brown over much of the surface. Pistol grip has been re-shaped and wood has been sanded and varnished over old handling marks. Action is smooth, bore is poor and dark overall with visible rifling. No visible import stamps. Marked on receiver ring ''dou 44''. Barrel is marked with an eagle, ''E'' and ''dou''. Numbers match on receiver and barrel, other parts electric pencil renumbered to match. No cleaning rod or front triggerguard locking screw. Condition overall is very good with over 95% of the dark blue refinish remaining on the metal. Stock has a flattened area on left side of butt where the serial number was stamped, and wood under the bolt handle has been removed with a chisel. Wood is very good with overall flaking and thinning to the Soviet-applied shellac finish which has turned dark. Smooth bore, no magazine, wooden block pinned into magazine well for single shot operation. Condition overall is very good with approx. 80% finish remaining on the metal. There are cracks on the rear handguard and right side of forend at stock reinforcing bolt, and chips at the nosecap. Buttstock is a lighter color than the forend. Wood shows overall darkening and handling marks. Action is smooth, bright bore is very good. No visible import stamps. Includes a Green British cotton sling in very good condition. Made in Italy early in WWII for the Japanese Navy using a Model 91 Carcano action and bolt. Missing cleaning rod. Condition overall is very good with metal surfaces showing signs of being recently cleaned, leaving approx. 30% finish present with the balance showing a brown patina or rust. Wood has been partially sanded on the butt trying to remove a large ''N'' carved into the wood, otherwise in very good condition showing scratches and handling marks. Left grip with a hairline crack above the retaining screw, otherwise both show moderate age and wear consistent with the metal surfaces. Hammer and trigger operate smoothly; very good bore. WWII Japanese Type 10 Flare Gun, by Kokura Arsenal, #344, 35mm, 4.75'' barrel, blue finish, grooved hardwood grips, with lanyard ring. Condition is very good, retaining ...moreapprox. 95% blue finish. Left side of frame with a dime-sized spot of pitting, as well as a few small spots near the muzzle. Left side of barrel with a line of finish loss and scratches that could be from a holster. Grips with a few spots of moderate wear and are nice for their age. Action operates smoothly; bore with some spots of fine erosion to one side and is otherwise very clean. Est.: $300-$450.
