Circa 1915 enameled outdoor business sign for "Nathan Kanter Bridgeport Tobacco Co. Wholesale Cigars & Tobacco". Sign manufactured by Federal Sign System Electrical Chica...morego, IL. Patent No. 11. Business was located at 3223 S. Halsted St. Chicago, IL. which operated until 1929 with the passing of Mr. Kanter. The sign was removed and put in the basement of the building. Was rediscovered in the 1980's when the building was being remodeled. Building is still standing and is currently a dentist office. And amazingly enough the original wrought iron bracket still hangs on the building. Double sided blue enamel sign is in remarkable original condition. The sign has a tin frame with embossed fluer-di-leis and is lit by 12 stud lights on both sides. The electric works and lights. Overall measures 78"Wx25"T. Don't miss this great opportunity to own a piece of Chicago's wholesale business.
